October 19, 2007

Natalie Webber Gulbrandsen

Natalie Webber Gulbrandsen, fourth Moderator of the Unitarian Universalist Association (1985–93), died October 17, 2007.

Ms. Gulbrandsen was awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Meadville Lombard in 1991 for her work in so many efforts to promote peace and justice.

She is fondly remembered by President Lee Barker, DMin '78 DD '01, who said "When I served as chair of the UUA’s Panel on Theological Education, it was my privilege to have worked closely with Natalie Gulbransen. As moderator of the Association, she was a member of the Panel that was appointed in its inception in 1986. In that capacity she showed herself to be committed to Unitarian Universalist Theological Education  and Ministry. All of Meadville Lombard mourns the loss of this visionary leader. She was our  friend and companion in our quest for ministerial excellence."
