March 26, 2010
Associate Professor of Theology, Dr. Michael Hogue has several articles in recent publication and we await his second book which will be published in August 2010. Dr. Hogue's body of work now includes publications in The
American Journal of Theology and Philosophy and The Journal of the American Academy of
Religion. His work has also appeared in The Journal of Religion, Zygon: A Journal of Religion and Science, and Crosscurrents.
His article "Aesthethics: The Art of Ecological Responsibility" will be published in The American Journal of Theology and Philosophy in May 2010, and you can now read his article, "After the Secular: Toward a Pragmatic Public Theology" which was published in the Journal of the American Academy of Religion (JAAR). JAAR is published through Oxford University Press and is the premier academic journal in religious studies. "It's a very big honor to have my article published with them," said Dr. Hogue. "It also features a way of thinking about what the Meadville Lombard Educational Model is about."

Hogue's second book, The Promise of
Religious Naturalism, will be published with Rowman and
Littlefield in August 2010. The book explores religious naturalism as a promising form of contemporary religious ethics, and as an emerging form of religious moral life consistent with the insights of the natural sciences. In short, this book shows that it is possible to be deeply religious and morally engaged with the most profound tasks of the present and also to be a fully committed naturalist.
