| Augustin "Gus" Douoguih
Augustin "Gus" Douoguih is an attorney who has been in private practice
since 1985. Prior to opening his law practice, he was corporate
associate at White & Case in New York City from 1982 to 1985.
Before attending law school and working at White & Case, Gus was
the Economic Counselor and head of the Ivory Coast Trade Office in the
US and Canada, based in New York City. He is currently Senior
Legal Advisor to the President of Ivory Coast in North America and
legal advisor to the Government of Togo.
Gus received his law degree from the University of Michigan in 1981.
He studied Economics at the Columbia University Graduate School of
Economics from 1965 to 1969, after receiving a Bachelor's degree in
Business Administration from Miami (of Ohio) University in 1965.
Gus
served on the Meadville Lombard Board of Trustees from 1998 to 2004,
chairing the Stewardship Committee for his last four years.
He is a founding member and first board president
of the congregation Unitarian Universalists of Sterling (UUS) in
Sterling, Virginia. He has served in many positions at UUS:
delegate to General Assembly, president of the Ministerial Search
Committee, youth advisor, canvasser, and Religious Education
co-teacher. He has served in area councils, including as a member
of the Baltimore Washington Growth Committee of the Joseph Priestly
District and the GWA , the former greater DC area association of UU
congregations. Gus was a member of the Unitarian Church of
Montclair, New Jersey, before moving to Virginia and becoming a member
of Unitarian Universalist Church in Reston, VA, before joining in the
creation of UUS.
Gus
is married to Clarice, a Fairfax County Public Schools math and science
teacher who is retired in 2009. They have three children and two
grandchildren. They reside in Reston, Virginia.
