What are the admissions application deadlines?

Application for admission closes on July 1 for Fall admission and December 1 for Spring admission. Applications completed after these due dates will NOT be considered for admission for the respective term. Meadville Lombard evaluates candidates on a rolling basis. Because of this admissions process, it is always to your advantage to apply well before the due date. All applications are reviewed in the order in which they are completed.

How will I be notified of an admissions decision?

Completed applications are reviewed in the chronological order in which they are received. Admissions decisions are sent via email.

Can I apply to begin the MDiv or MAR degree program or the Certificate program during the Spring term?

Yes, students in these programs can begin their studies in the Spring. Most students do begin in the Fall, so students who begin their programs in the Spring will need to work closely with their faculty advisors to plan a course of study. Students matriculating in the Spring may or may not be able to closely follow the intended plan of study for their program.

What is Meadville Lombard’s deferment policy?

Individuals accepted into a degree program may be granted a deferment of up to one year from the intended academic year of enrollment. In order to receive a deferment, accepted students must submit an Acceptance of Admission form and a deposit.

Is there a time limit to complete the admissions application process?

All individuals must complete the admissions process within one calendar year. No admissions application materials will be held after one calendar year from the application date.

Can I transfer credits from another school?

Yes. Students admitted to the Master of Divinity program are allowed to transfer up to 27 credits from prior graduate work. Students admitted to the Master of Arts (Religion) program or the Doctor of Ministry program may transfer up to 6 credits from another graduate degree program.

Applicants or incoming students seeking to transfer prior credits should contact the Registrar for a transcript evaluation. The transcript evaluation will be provided to the applicant once approved by the VP of Academic and Student Affairs. Transferred credits will appear on the Meadville Lombard transcript with a P (pass) in lieu of a letter grade, and will not impact cumulative GPA.

The full transfer policy can be found in the Student Handbook.

Can I begin taking courses before the beginning of the academic year into which I have been accepted?

Yes. Although our academic year begins in the fall, individuals are encouraged to take advantage of Meadville Lombard’s spring and summer course offerings. Credits earned will automatically count toward the student’s degree program. Please note, however, that financial aid will typically not be available until students officially begin their degree program. Contact the Student Affairs & Admissions Office for more information.

Does Meadville Lombard require an admissions interview as part of the admissions process?

Meadville Lombard may require an admissions interview as part of the admissions process. We will contact you directly to schedule an in-person or online video interview, if necessary.
