Scholarships for 2013 - 2014
Merit Scholarships for Excellence in UU Ministry
Meadville Lombard is uniquely positioned to provide students with grounding in Unitarian Universalist ministries past, present and future as well as to help provide funding for students seeking to answer their call to minister to the world through the UU tradition of liberal religious thought. Through special donors and friends, we are able to offer full-tuition and partial-tuition scholarships to students seeking to continue the tradition of excellence in UU ministry. Please be sure to review these special offerings for 2013/14, below, and find more information about other need- and merit-based scholarships here (or contact the Senior Director of Student Services). Hardy and Betty Sanders Full-Tuition Scholarship
Meadville Lombard is grateful to Betty Sanders and her late husband Hardy Sanders for their generous support of the future of Unitarian Universalist ministry through this endowed scholarship. The Sanders Scholarship covers all tuition for a full-time student for the three-year Master of Divinity degree program. See the sidebar story to read more about how this scholarship made a difference in the life of Jim Magaw, the first recipient of the Sanders Scholarship.
Deadline: All applicants who have completed their Admissions Application* by March 15, 2013 (5:00 PM CST) will be considered for the Sanders Scholarship. The Admissions Review Committee will propose candidates to the Faculty who will select three finalists. The President will select the Sanders Scholar from among the finalists. The selection will be made public within 2 to 4 weeks after the application deadline. Nancy and Richard Bechtolt Full-Tuition Scholarship
Meadville Lombard is honored to receive this addition to our scholarship offerings for students entering the Master of Divinity degree program in 2013-- a full-tuition scholarship for one full-time student preparing to serve in a congregational setting. We are so grateful to Mrs. Nancy Bechtolt for helping to strengthen Unitarian Universalist ministry while honoring the memory of her late husband through this scholarship. This merit scholarship will cover tuition for the three years of the Master of Divinity degree program and will be awarded based on the strength of the application essay, the minister's letter of recommendation, and all additional application materials.
Deadline: All applicants who have completed their Admissions Application* by February 15, 2013 (5:00 PM CST) will be considered for the Bechtolt Scholarship. The Admissions Review Committee will propose candidates who indicate they will be studying full-time and who indicate their intention to serve in parish ministry to the Faculty who will select three finalists. The President will select the Bechtolt Scholar from among the finalists. The selection will be made public within 2 to 4 weeks after the application deadline.
Shelter Rock Community Scholars
Meadville Lombard is thrilled to announce a new scholarship opportunity for students entering the Master of Divinity degree program in Fall 2013--the Shelter Rock Community Scholars grant program will pay the tuition for the Community Studies Seminar for six incoming students. This is a 3-credit course--which, for the typical full-time student, equals 1/3 of the tuition for the first year. We are so grateful to the Large Grants Program of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Shelter Rock in Manhasset, New York, for making this scholarship possible.
Deadline: All applicants for admission to the Master of Divinity degree program who have their application complete by February 15, 2013, 5:00 CST, will be considered for the scholarship--a value of about $6,000. Only six (6) of these scholarships are availabe, so be sure your application is complete by this deadline.
*The application must be complete (essay, transcripts, reference letters) by the application deadline in order to be considered. |
