Rev. Lynnda White is the President of the Meadville Lombard Alumni/ae Association. She currently serves as part-time assistant minister at the Universalist Unitarian Church of Peoria, Illinois, which is also her home congregation.
Rev. White received a waiver from the UUA Credentials Committee, which enabled her to accept the position in the Peoria church in April 2017. She graduated from Meadville Lombard Theological School in May 2013 with a Master of Divinity Degree and was ordained in her home congregation in November 2014. Lynnda has a BA in Communications from Illinois College.
Although Rev. White’s assignment is not full time, in her view, “There is no such thing as part-time ministry.” She shares ministerial duties with senior minister Michael Brown, is in the pulpit at least once a month, and is involved in many aspects of church life, particularly social action and pastoral care. She is active in the Central Illinois Chapter of the Interfaith Alliance and other community endeavors.
Before attending seminary, Lynnda worked in a variety of capacities at Caterpillar Inc. over her thirty-five years with the company. She started as a bargaining unit worker in the factory and moved into management where she became a supervisor and worked in a number of human resources positions. She ended her Caterpillar career as a Six Sigma Black Belt and was a project manager for engineers. Lynnda feels that her many experiences in the business world are helpful in dealing with administrative aspects of ministry.
Lynnda’s interests include traveling to visit her son Chase and his family, who currently live in Tucson, Arizona. She has attended the last three Parliaments of the World’s Religions in Barcelona (2004), Melbourne (2009), and Salt Lake City (2015). She sings with the Heritage Ensemble choral group and the Peoria UU Church choir.
