“The most exciting part of a Registrar’s job is seeing students receive their diplomas and go out into the world to do the work of justice and mercy.”

Elena Jimenez joined Meadville Lombard in December 2019, bringing almost 15 years of experience in theological education administration. They have a Master of Arts in Religious Studies from Chicago Theological Seminary and a BA in Religion with minors in Humanities and Gender Studies. After graduating from Chicago Theological Seminary, she joined the staff, serving as Academic Administration Assistant, then Assistant Dean for Academic Administration, and finally as Registrar and Director of Student Learning Assessment. They bring a passion for theological education as an engine for individual and social transformation, and love working with students to plan how they will fit their individual life situations and vocational passions into the structures of a degree program's curriculum.

They are a member of Church of the Three Crosses, a United Church of Christ/United Methodist congregation in the Old Town Triangle area in Chicago. She lives in Hyde Park with her cat and considers Chicago to be her adopted home after growing up in suburban Maryland and attending college in North Carolina.

What is meaningful in your work for Meadville Lombard?

“I see my role as Registrar as one of facilitator. I am here to help students move smoothly through their educational programs. The most exciting part of a Registrar’s job is seeing students receive their diplomas and go out into the world to do the work of justice and mercy—and I feel lucky to be able to stay in touch with students as they become alumni/ae and to hear about their paths and the contributions they make across the country and around the world.”
